Land Rover Range Rover Sport with Diesel

To most of the Europeans, diesel is the first choice when it comes to purchasing a new vehicle. Is it the case with Americans too?

May be not. The Americans always had difficulty accepting vehicles powered by any diesel engine, to them, it doesn’t matter whether the vehicles be German luxury saloons or heavy-duty pickup trucks. Volkswagen’s dieselgate scandal worked as petrol to the fire, casting a big deal of negative light on these already struggling diesel units.

What’s impressive about this new Range Rover Sport HSE Td6?

The all-new 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE Td6 model is powered by a 3.0-litre turbo diesel V6 engine that makes 254 bhp and 443 lb-ft of torque. The power is sent to all four wheels using an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Here the Td stands for ‘turbo-diesel’ and the ‘6’ is the number of cylinders utilised for this engine. It is understandable that most of the buyers greatly consider fuel economy while others don’t, but if you are among those who do, be assured you won’t be disappointed. The reason? Because this diesel version has 32 per cent improvement over the petrol engine, offering 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway fuel economy. And it is capable of travelling from 0 to 60 mph in just 7.1 seconds. Amazing, isn’t it?

Spacious enough to accommodate five adults

If you get a look at other SUVs in the segment, it is doubtful you’ll ever be able to find any with such a spacious cabin that Range Rover Sport HSE is offering.

You’ll be amazed to know how these oversized front bucket seats feel and not just that, the second row also consists of plush 40-20-40 bench seat. At the end there is a 27.7 cubic foot cargo storage compartment to hold cases.

What’s the inside like?

The centre stack offers Range Rover’s traditional feel and look, it is uncluttered and orderly having a large colour display.

The audio system is using large knobs while the transmission stick, four-wheel drive controller, two cup holders and the attendant switches are splitting the front seats. you can choose ice, snow, rain, mud, rocks and sand mode by using the controller.

Other features are dual-zone climate, heated steering wheel, blind spot monitoring, adaptive Xenon headlamps, rear traffic alert and vehicle sensing system.
