The Radical 2016 Land Rover Discovery

The latest Discovery is inspired by the Discovery Vision concept

What is it?

Towards the end of 2016, Land Rover is going to introduce its latest Discovery which has been greatly inspired by the Discovery Vision concept. According to the company the new vehicle will be lower and lighter and will contain practicality and technology in the newly designed cabin.

The diesel engine for this model has been revised and mated to a nine-speed automatic gearbox for better economy and performance.

What kind of engine it has under the hood?

Currently, Discovery and Range Rover models are using a 3.0-litre SDV6 diesel engine but for the new Discovery the company has updated the unit.

As most of the car manufacturers are going for the hybrid versions, the JLR will introduce hybrid drivelines but it is expected that they will not hit the production line for a few years.

What is it offering?

Jaguar Land Rover is using its bonded and riveted aluminium monologue architecture as the foundation of its new vehicles. JLR is going to build Range Rover and Range Rover Sport along with new Jaguar cars in the Solihull plant. Like its predecessors this new vehicle will also be a seven-seater retaining the versatile and practical ‘stadium seating’.

The best thing offered is the ‘transparent bonnet’ as part of newly featured technologies. Then there is the laser scanning system which prepares the suspension and the transmission to match the road conditions ahead.

The new model is made in such a manner to be more upmarket and closer to its luxurious siblings, the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. Alongside the Discovery and Discovery Sport, there has been discussion about making a third member which will be smaller than the current range.

Soon the global annual sales are expected to pass the 20 million mark, the position of Jaguar Land Rover is expanding in all directions and JLR is keen to maintain that position.
